MMQG January Meeting

This past Thursday, January 21, was our first regular monthly meeting of 2016.  Our first regular meeting in our new meeting space.  So many thanks to member Shelly Stephen for securing this wonderful, bright room for our use going forward.  You rock, Shelly!
Some of our members travel quite a distance to be with us for our meetings and Sew-Ins, especially in winter,  and we just want to let them know it means a lot.   Needless to say, our first time together since last November was a raucous one.  28 very happy and excited quilters had time to say hello and catch up a bit and then it was on to our meeting agenda.  Our President, Adrienne, opened the meeting by introducing our 2016 Executive.  So great to see new faces!  The budget was discussed and also results of our members survey were discussed as well. Plans are being made and finalized for what swaps, challenges and charity quilting will be happening this year.  Membership renewals took place as well.
Then it was on to our fave part of the evening...Show and Share...Firstly, Anja distributed the Quilter's Planners that she was instrumental in ordering from U.S. Thanks so much to Anja for taking care of this for us.   They are just lovely and hopefully will help keep everyone on track.

Linda had a cover all made up and ready to put on her new planner.

Lots of photos to share.  Enjoy!

If there are any photos that you would like to know more about, please feel free to get in touch.  Our little guild is very prolific so we always have lots of eye candy at our meetings.  You should come and see for yourself. We would love to see what you are working on.

Our next meeting will be held on February 11 from 7 - 9 pm

MMQG January Sew-In Day

It's January.  It's Nova Scotia.  Lots of people just don't venture out with the threat of bad driving conditions.  This past Saturday was one of those days but our scheduled Sew-In day for January was not cancelled and was attended by four happy quilters.  Even four quilters can make a lot of noise and surely the oohing and aahing was just as usual.

A whole day to yourself to sew is quite a luxury for some quilters.  A quilt can be quilted over several hours of uninterrupted time.  A quilt can be sewn together into a top over a few hours of uninterrupted time. Even get a lot of work done on your computer.  Yes, Lots can happen in a room with even only four quilters sewing up a storm....or sewing in spite of a storm is more like it!

Check out this link to Adrienne's blog and you will see what she accomplished as a result of attending Sew-In Day.
